SAP takes the security of its vast product portfolio very seriously and thus releases security fixes for vulnerabilities reported by external researchers and their customers every second Tuesday of the month.

SAP Note 3025637 was released on 13.04.2021 and deals with "[CVE-2021-21492] Content spoofing in NetWeaver AS Java HTTP Service" within Java. We advice you to follow the instructions, to resolve content spoofing with a medium potential for exploitation in component BC-JAS-WEB.

According to SAP Security Advisory team a workaround does not exist. It is advisable to implement the correction as part of maintenance.

Risk specification

SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java HTTP Service does not sufficiently validate login groups in URLs, resulting in a content spoofing vulnerability when the directory listing is enabled.

Solution

The affected system component now provides validation for the HTTP URL against the list of configured logon groups on Application Server Java HTTP Service.
