Advisory

The advisory for SAP IDM adresses a "[CVE-2020-6258] Missing Authorization check in SAP Identity Management". SAP Note 2915429 was released on 12.05.2020 and should be implemented during part of maintenance. The implementation demands a downtime. Component BC-IAM-IDM has a medium risk of exploitation, according to the manufacturers security and response team.

Following the SAP Security Advisory team, a workaround does not exist.

Risk specification

SAP Identity Management does not perform necessary authorization checks for an authenticated user, resulting in escalation of privileges.

Solution

The authorization check of one of the attribute types, that was missing, has been added.
